# SCAMPER

A structured brainstorming technique that applies seven transformation lenses to an existing product or idea to generate creative alternatives.

## Steps

1. **Substitute** — What components, materials, or people could you swap out? What alternative would work?
2. **Combine** — What ideas, features, or functions could you merge? What would a hybrid look like?
3. **Adapt** — What could you borrow from another domain or context? What existing solution could be adapted?
4. **Modify** — What could you enlarge, shrink, or change in shape, color, or form? What if you exaggerated one aspect?
5. **Put to other use** — Could this product serve a different user or market? What other problems could it solve?
6. **Eliminate** — What could you remove or simplify? What is non-essential?
7. **Reverse / Rearrange** — What if you reversed the sequence, flipped the model, or rearranged the layout?

## Output Format

A table with one row per SCAMPER letter. Columns: Lens, Prompt Question, Generated Ideas (2-3 per lens), and a final shortlist of the most promising ideas with rationale.
