# Musk's Five-Step Process

A first-principles engineering framework for radical simplification: question every requirement, delete the unnecessary, simplify what remains, then accelerate and automate.

## Steps

1. **Question the requirements** — Challenge every requirement; ask who made it and why. Requirements from smart people are the most dangerous because they are less likely to be questioned.
2. **Delete** — Remove any part or process you can. If you are not adding back at least 10% of what you delete, you are not deleting enough.
3. **Simplify and optimize** — Only after deleting, simplify what remains. Do not optimize a step that should not exist.
4. **Accelerate cycle time** — Speed up the process, but only after steps 1-3. Going faster on a broken process just produces waste faster.
5. **Automate** — Automate last, never first. Automating a flawed process locks in the flaw.

## Output Format

A before/after comparison table showing: each component or step, whether it was questioned/deleted/simplified/accelerated/automated, the rationale, and the resulting improvement.
